Elected Positions

President

(Almost a part-time job: Commitment/hours vary as to the event (i.e., creating literature and educational materials, preparation of the agenda, etc. for speaking or participating at engagements or AGM)).

a) Oversee the operation of the group to function properly:

i. Chair and officiate meetings while exercising general control over the interactions and affairs of the group.
ii. Authorize and oversee finances and expenditures while serving as a signing officer for documents and cheques (2 signatures required).
iii. Liaise with and represent IBSIG to RPNAO, the College of Nurses of Ontario if needed and other allied health professions and attend industry events. Provide an annual report to RPNAO.
iv. Assist in the creation of public relations material for education, advertising/ marketing IBSIG and speaking engagements.
v. Attend all meetings or notify the Vice-President to ‘stand in’.

b) Provide an orientation to new Executive upon election with the assistance of Executive Committee members via teleconference, email or in person to educate and orient them within a timely manner concerning all IBSIG By-laws and procedures.

President-Elect (Vice-President)

(Estimated 10hrs/mo)

a) Act as the president/chair in his or her absence.
b) Assist the president/chair on assigned and specified duties per the need of the organization.
c) Use time in office to learn about the duties of the President.
d) Assist the President in the creation of public relations material for education, advertising/ marketing IBSIG and speaking engagements.
e) Undertake Special Responsibilities (frequently assigned to a special area of responsibility).
f) Attend all meetings and if unable to attend, notify the President as soon as possible.

Public Relations

(Estimated 3-5hrs/mo)

a) Represent IBSIG by promoting the organization and speaking at events (e.g., Ruth Ruttan Foot Care Conference, NEFCA, Seneca/PN Students, RPNAO MP Lunch, Conferences).
b) Promote Independent Business as an interest group to RPN members and breadth of businesses run by IBSIG members.
c) Liaise with the Events Assistant to identify opportunities to outreach to new IBSIG members and educate PN students about IBSIG.
d) Assist the President/VP in the creation of public relations material for education, advertising/ marketing IBSIG and speaking engagements.
e) Undertake Special Responsibilities (frequently assigned to a special area of responsibility pertaining to public relations).
f) Attend all meetings and if unable to attend, notify the President as soon as possible.

Treasurer

(Estimated 30hrs/yr)

a) Collect and account funds of IBSIG.
b) Keep records of all revenue and expenses for the preparation of financial statements for the membership.
c) Prepare an annual financial report of the revenues, expenditures, and accounts of IBSIG to be distributed and read at the Annual Meeting.
d) Make arrangements for the annual review of financial practice accounts if requested.
e) In the absence of the Secretary, perform the duties as Secretary.
f) Attend all meetings and if unable to attend, notify the President as soon as possible.

Secretary

(Estimated 40hrs/yr)

a) Accurately record and transcribe meeting minutes at annual board meeting and annual general meeting.
b) Maintain business correspondence arising from the Executive Committee meetings.
c) Help to coordinate events and/or participating as needed.
d) Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Committee or the President of IBSIG.
e) Attend all meetings and if unable to attend, notify the President as soon as possible.

Membership Coordinator

(Estimated 5hrs/mo)

a) Keep records of all membership contact information and regularly updates that record through RPNAO.
b) Correspond with the Executive Committee members regarding the membership list.
c) Correspond with the members regarding any IBSIG news and events.
d) Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Committee or the President of IBSIG.
e) Attend all meetings and if unable to attend, notify the President as soon as possible.

Assigned Positions

Social Media and Events Coordinator

(Estimated 25hrs/yr)

a) Liaise with the Public Relations Coordinator to identify opportunities to outreach to new IBSIG members and educate PN students about IBSIG.
b) Coordinate event logistics, including the Annual General Meeting, to ensure a successful event.
c) Identify areas of assistance to the President and VP so to engage the assistance of Executive Committee members to attend events and assist with onsite preparations and setup, as needed.
d) Report on the event attendance and identify areas of improvement for placement in minutes of Executive and AGM meetings.
e) Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Committee or the President of IBSIG.
f) Attend all meetings and if unable to attend, notify the President as soon as possible.
